EFFECT OF HEIGHT ON MOTORIC FEATURES

The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of body height on leg strength, vertical jump, anaerobic power and flexibility characteristics in male subjects. A total of 160 moderately active men with similar body weight range, participated voluntarily in the study. Participants were divided into two groups according to the median value of their height, as "the short group (n=80)" and "the tall group (n=80)". Their body mass index, flexibility, leg strength, vertical jump scores and anaerobic power characteristics were determined. Groups were compared with each other by means of the “Mann-Whitney U test”. For statistical analysis SPSS (v22.0) was used and (α) level was set as 0.05 for statistical significance. As a result, there were no statistical differences for flexibility and leg strength characteristics among groups. However, vertical jump and anaerobic power scores of the tall group were significantly higher than those of the short group; and body mass index of the short group was higher than that of the tall group.
