Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the leadership power perception of amateur and professional soccer players according to their success as measured by being in the top three league standing in their past. Data were collected from 870 male soccer players (n=173 professionals and n=697 amateurs). The players had a mean age of 18.4 ± 4.0 year, and had been playing soccer with license for an average of 6.00 ± 4.15 years. The adapted Turkish version of Power in Soccer Questionnaire-Other (PSQ-O for soccer players) and an information form were applied for data collection. Following consent of the coaches and players to participate in the research, a meeting time and place for testing was determined, and collected data were analyzed by means of the non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis Test. Analysis of PSQ-O revealed no significant differences between leadership power perception of amateur and professional soccer players according to their success. Leadership power perception of the players is further assessed by 2x2 analysis in the study.
