Abstract

As involvement in sports activities increases all over the world in time, the number of sports injuries is getting higher too. There are many factors that influence the frequency of sport injuries, and environmental factors is one of them. Environmental factors can be listed as temperature, precipitation, humidity and altitude. These affect the floor on which sports activities are performed, which in return influences the frequency of injuries. The effect of the environmental factor is much greater in games and training held outdoors. In general, it is determined that injuries are often seen early into the seasons, in dry weather, and on artificial turf. However, it is possible to decrease the frequency of sports injuries by identifying the risk factors causing such injuries, and taking necessary precautions beforehand. The subject is discussed, together with relevant literature.
